Web development with Adobe CS4: what’s new? – Part 1
Adobe Dreamweaver CS4
There are a lot of new features in Adobe Dreamweaver CS4. In fact, for me as a Web developer, it is probably the most interesting upgrade since MX, which included server-side code.
Of course, CSS has been a great part of Dreamweaver ever since the early versions. Nonetheless, CS4 still has new CSS features! Among them, we have the split Properties panel that now enables you to define HTML settings and CSS basic settings in one place. Also, no more “style1”, “style2” and so on. If you create something new, Dreamweaver will automatically create a new rule and ask you to name it. Also, you have the ability to be more or less specific for your rule, with description of what your rule will affect.
A small but very welcomed improvement is the Vertical Split View that allows you to see the design on one side and the code on the other side, instead of the usual top and bottom view.
The Live View and LiveCode View, new Spry assets, new interface, related files and InContext Editing are some of the other new things that you will see in Dreamweaver CS4. In fact, there are so much new features, we can’t cover them all in a small blog post.

Still to come: new features for Adobe Flash CS4 Pro and Adobe Fireworks CS4.
